Meet Norman, zen master and care champion

We sat down with Norman to find out more about his passion for Falun Dafa, a style of Buddhist Meditation and his life at Allianz Care.
Since I was a child I was always fascinated by spirituality. I was fascinated by the concepts of morality and the after-life. I know it sounds crazy, but it prompted me to start my journey in the search immortality. I tried various meditations before I finally settled with Falundafa about 16 years ago. It has basic movements and sittings but most importantly it helps you apply three basic principles to your daily life - Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.
Meditation is the key to maintaining a calm state of mind. Throughout the day, it helps you to stay calm and keep your head clear. I usually practice solely at home, but I also practice together with other practitioners in Stephen’s Green, Dublin.
Definitely. There are so many benefits that I think could help anyone. I try to encourage all my friends to try meditation. It helps you relax and become calm of course, but it also helps you view the world from a different angle. I feel so content, I am able to deal with stress and pressures much better than before and I think that is really important.
As a Senior Claims Officer, your day to day work can be extremely busy. We are helping customers through some of their most challenging times so there can be a lot of pressure. I find that doing my mediation in the mornings helps me get ready for the day ahead, I can stay calm throughout the day and handle anything that comes at me.
Evolving. It is a place where you are always growing, always learning. There is a lot of opportunity for growth, to learn new things, try out new skills. I think anyone who has been part of the team has felt their skills evolve.
Every month we introduce you to a new Allianz Care Champion. People are at the heart of what we do and we think it’s important to showcase the wonderful staff who are here every day to help our thousands of customers across the globe
