Allianz Care celebrates 20th anniversary

July 8, 2020

Allianz Care, the international health brand of Allianz Partners is celebrating its 20 year anniversary, supported by a specialist team that grew from just 20 people, to an international workforce of 1,300 based across six continents.

Allianz Care provides health, life and disability cover and services to multinational companies, inter-governmental (IGOs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private individuals and families.

Originally launched in 2000 as a start-up known as ‘Allianz Worldwide Care’, Dublin was chosen as the location for its global operational hub, due to the city’s international workforce. The headquarters later moved from Dublin to Paris when Allianz Care became a brand of Allianz Partners, but Dublin remains the primary hub of operations for the international healthcare brand, with 900 staff based there.

Over the past 20 years, Allianz Care has established a reputation for customer care excellence within the international health insurance industry, constantly evolving to meet customer needs. It also experienced substantial growth in this period - the international health line of business reported revenues of 1.910 billion euros in 2019.

Discussing the 20th anniversary and the future of Allianz Care, Allianz Partners Chief Executive Officer for Health, Ida Luka-Lognoné stated:

“I’m delighted to be celebrating this great milestone for Allianz Care. It’s a key brand within Allianz Partners, which is a global business focused on providing international assistance and insurance solutions to customers worldwide. Within our team of health specialists we‘re incredibly proud to have 60 different nationalities represented among the 900 employees based at our operational hub here in Dublin and a further 400 people working across our international network of offices. The breadth of nationalities we’re lucky to work with reflects the international nature of our business. We had hoped to mark this special occasion with a physical celebration, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic we are still celebrating together, but remotely instead.

“Our focus within international health over the last 20 years has always been on protecting the health and wellbeing of our globally mobile customers. This has never been more important than during the current situation. Over the last three months we’ve seen a surge in interest for international private medical insurance as a result of COVID-19 and we’re delighted that we have been able to serve that demand while working remotely. This milestone allows us to take a moment to look back at how business has grown over the past 20 years. I think it’s crucial we remind ourselves of how much has changed in that time and to anticipate the changes that the next 20 years could bring. The future of healthcare is very exciting. As well as new treatments there will be a continuing evolution of robotics, artificial intelligence and digital access to care. We’re looking forward to being a part of it for the next 20 years, as true healthcare partners for our customers.”
