Meet Duncan, Motocross Rider and Care Champion

     September 25, 2020
I am not sure where my interest and passion for motorcycles came from, as nobody in my family had any connection to biking, but from an early age I  loved anything with two wheels and desperately wanted a motorbike.  When I was 8 years old, we moved from Liverpool to the Isle of Man and with all the open countryside and living in a place that is motorbike crazy, my parents agreed to get me a dirt bike.  From that point on it was my favourite thing to do and that remains true to this day!
We have some great off-road riding and racing in the UAE, but every 2 years myself and a group of friends from Dubai Motocross Club travel to Southern California to train and race.  SoCal is full of great tracks with lots of riders and really awesome racing. Our next stop is hopefully the World Vet Motocross Championship in the US at the end of the year.
I never thought of myself as an adrenaline junkie, but thinking about, racing Motocross certainly raises the bar in terms of getting motivated.  Every time you line up on the gate you get a rush, which is a combination of fear and excitement. Once the gate drops, you are 100% focused and in the zone, no other thoughts, nothing else matters. Maybe I am?
For me, Motocross ticks both these boxes. It's a high adrenaline sport that pushes your mind and your body to its limits, but I find this to be a great stress reliever and a way to reset.  Our local club is run purely by volunteers and it has a really great community vibe, so whilst on the track we are fierce competitors, but when the racing is done we are the best of friends and spend time together.
I recently joined Allianz Care in July of 2019 and I work in the sales team, based in Dubai in the UAE.  I am responsible for the acquisition of large corporate customers across the Middle East & Africa.
Refreshing!  As a large organization that offers fundamentally complex customer solutions, it has been very refreshing to see how we are able to remain so flexible and agile.  I am constantly surprised and pleased about the “can do” attitude I find across the Allianz Care business.
Every month we introduce you to a new Allianz Care Champion. People are at the heart of what we do and we think it’s important to showcase the wonderful staff who are here every day to help our thousands of customers across the globe
